The Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2010 is a no age statement single malt matured in ex-bourbon and ex-Rivesaltes, JuranÇon and Banyuls French wine casks. Like all Bruichladdich’s whisky, this expression is non-chill filtered, it’s bottled at 50% ABV with no artificial colouring added. The average price for this whisky is around $65. Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2010 whisky is said to have been produced and distilled from the consolidation of harvests from eight farms across Islay.
On the nose, you’ll get a wonderful aroma of orchard fruits (red apples & pears), salt, barley, floral notes, toffee, sugar, vanilla and butterscotch.
The palate is viscous and rich, you’ll get wonderful custard notes, burnt toffee, boiled apples, floral notes and syrup … absolutely wonderful. The finish is long with salt and citrus notes.
This is a very interesting and high quality single malt from Bruichladdich. It’s rich, intense and complex. Highly recommended.
